WHAT COMES AFTER “LEARN TO SKATE?”
For the serious skaters
The
Center Ice Skating Club is a group of skaters and parents that
have joined together to buy blocks of ice time from the rink
and to provide a venue for young figure skaters to strive towards
their dreams. We are a US Figure Skating member
club and our skaters as they grow are eligible to compete in
all US Figure Skating competitions like those you see on television.
The Club is for the serious skaters only who are taking or who
want to take private professional instruction. Minimally
a skater must have completed Basic Level 8 in the “Learn
to Skate” program and have the recommendation of a coach
to be eligible for Club Membership. Club currently has
8 sessions of ice booked each week, two sessions each on Sunday,
Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday. A basic membership includes
two hours of ice weekly and an estimated cost is $800.00 for
the full regular season. Our ice time is limited to 24
skaters per session and at this writing there is space available.
Beyond our regular season that runs from September to May, we
have a Summer Program that is organized by the rink and runs
from June to August with various days and times available. The
Club coaches teach various classes during the Summer Program.
The Summer Program allows a skater to have up to 10 hours of
ice available each week. We also have a Power class available.
This would be an excellent class for skaters who want to join
the club. Summer is our best opportunity for valuable ice
time. Don’t
wait until Fall!
You may have seen our skaters locally at events such as the
Christmas “Light Up Downtown” program in Canton as
well as in competitions around the area, the State, the Region,
the Country, someday hopefully Internationally.
Coaching – Club membership covers only your ice cost and
does not include any coaching services. These would be
contracted for with the individual coaches and are paid directly
to the coaches. Coaching fees vary. Arrangements
for private lessons are to be made directly with the professionals.
If you do not have a private Coach, we can put you in touch with
those that have space available.
Parent/Volunteer Participation – Parents are requested
to participate by taking turns as Ice Monitors. These monitors
are not on the ice, but are located in the music box. A
Board of Directors and Volunteers run the Club. It is strongly
recommended everyone get involved! Assistance can be provided
by you working on the committees or by helping with mailings,
clerical needs, and in many other ways.
You do not need to have a skater in club to volunteer.
We have a great group of people involved and everyone is encouraged
to join in and help!
For more information, contact us at our website or mailing address
as noted above.
>>> The Board of Directors of the Center
Ice Skating Club reserves the right to modify the season schedule
or to change the restrictions on who is permitted to skate during
any particular session at any time throughout the season for
any reason but will do so primarily for safety concerns.
